Intef was the third king of the 11th Dynasty. Like other 11th Dynasty king, he took Thebes as his capital. He defended the city of Abydos from assaults from the rival pharaohs in Nekhen. Intef's name is inscribed in the mountains of Silsilah. Queen Aoh was his Great Royal wife and the mother of his heir Mentuhotep II. Intef's daughter Neferu married her half-brother. The king had a second queen in his reign called Henite.
