columns

Palmiform columns do not actually represent palm trees, but rather eight palm fronds tied to a central pole. This type of column was used from the earliest times and the temples of Unas (Vth Dynasty) made great use of this type of column. However, after this period, its use dies out for a while and becomes popular again in the Ptolemaic era.
