Lotiform columns tend to have ribbed shafts which represent the stems of the plant, and can be topped with capitals representing either open or closed lotus buds.
However, the Lotus Column appears to have been more popular in secular and residential architecture than it was in religious architecture and relatively few examples of the lotiform column can be found.
